DIY Lavender Pillow Spray

This super easy to make pillow spray smells divine and has only 3 ingredients. Totally natural, vegan friendly and helps support a deep nights sleep. Lavender is known to reduce stress and anxiety, promoting restful sleep.

What you need:

Small Spray bottle

Measuring jug/spoons

Witch Hazel

Distilled water

Lavender Essential Oil

Firstly, you need to distill your water. Simply boil a small amount of water and put it to one side to cool. This kills off any bacteria, and will extend the life of your spray. Next measure out 35ml of Witch Hazel, and add it to your bottle. Then add 2 ml of lavender essential oil and give it a good shake. Finally top up your bottle with 65ml of your distilled water, give it another good shake and you’re good to go! You can adjust the amount of Lavender essential oil to suit your preferences – Lavender essential oil is non-toxic and non-irritant. It’s even safe for children, but remember small noses are extra sensitive so a weaker dilution is best. Spray your bed linen, spray your PJ’s, and enjoy the relaxing and soothing scent of Lavender. Why not add a cute label and give as a gift?

Measuring tips:

A teaspoon = 5ml (7 Tsps of witch hazel, 13 Tsps of water)

20 drops of oil = approx. 1ml

Storage:

Keep your spray out of direct sunlight, store it in your bedside draw, or even keep it in the fridge for extra freshness! Why? Essential oils are photosensitive (No not camera shy, they react to light!) and can go rancid over time. This spray will keep for fresh for about 3 months.

Choosing your spray bottle:

Glass is best. Over time, essential oils can react with plastic and cause the plastic to break down, adding nasties to your mix. Amber glass is best as it reduces light, prolonging your mix.

Caution: Never spray your mix on to heat sources or naked flames, and always be careful of furniture and surfaces!
